It is just as well we are a skittles, not a football, team or our Craptain wouldn't be feeling too comfortable in his shoes right now!!  The Almonds just don't seem able to find their form simultaneously at the moment - this week it took the 'ankers to even get our scoring past the 20s...  peRV thought he'd cracked it, but the excitement was too much and he bottled it at the last post!

Our game against the Magpies got under way with the Welshboys leading us into battle - Jockey hit 14 & Tim 17 to leave us 7 down, and that was as good as it got all evening folks...  the Young Guns were so enthralled with the game they had to amuse themselves with a games console and phone video of Georgie Boy having his lip mutilated with steel - by the end of the evening I'm not sure which was more painful to watch, the piercing or the game!

Jake & Jen were next up, and like every other pair on the team, kept their scores on a relatively equal level:  Jake finished with 17 and Jen 18, dropping a further 12 pins to leave us trailing by 19 as Danny & aRCe took to the alley.  Slimbridge, continuing with his Douglas Under20s Coaching Scheme (DUCS), offered the benefit of his expertise to Danny, after an alarming similarity to Barnes's technique of bouncing the balls at the pins crept in!  Danny scored a perfectly decent 16, aRCe 19, and a further 10 pins were added to the Magpies' lead.

peRV & JL scores were pretty similar, 19 & 14 respectively, and it soon became apparent that JL was not on the same drugs as last week - and as he didn't score more than Jen this week, I won't point out that he dropped 20 against his opponent whilst she only dropped the 1 pin. A half century +1 behind by now, Craptain played the Turn Us Round Demons - Slimbridge & himself.  Having used up all his energies telling everyone else how to play, CD was the only member of the team not to manage double figures this week with lowest score of 9, our Craptain came in 2nd with his unlucky 13.

Now 65 down, we finally had 2 players inspired to play properly!  Sparky, who had earlier shown shocking ignorance over what constituted a Skittler's Frame, salvaged his reputation by not only getting the highest score, but hitting 30 too.  Perhaps it was the reassurance that he doesn't have to wear a pink shirt that helped him, or maybe it was Sue pointing out that should he wear pink to the Southmead Club where he previously had his van stripped, he might receive the same treatment to his person...  PeB got 2nd highest score with 23, which was how many pins our 'ankers managed to pull back on the game so that we finished 42 pins down.

Us Almonds have shown that we have what it takes for a losing streak, but maybe now that we have resolved the whole worrying issue of what colour and size shirts we must all have for our Team Kit, we can show everyone how well we do a winning streak as well:  bring on the 'Bohemans' at St. Teresa's Club on Monday 3/10 and let's finally whup some ass!!
