I arrived at Tuesday's match against the Lockleaze something-or-others part way through the evening's proceedings, following an SOS call from the vice vice-Craptain. Presumably he drew the short straw in having to contact me. By the time the 3rd pair had finished we were trailing by 30 pins, and I was put on to play straight away with Sparky, who was moved to pronounce that we always play well together - although I have asked him not to discuss that in front of other people...
I started off with a Perfect 9, which promoted hope amongst my fellow Almonds and provoked an outcry of demand for proof of my being signed on from the opposition. They soon quietened down when the wheels wobbled on my game and I finished with a 23 instead of a potentially sparkling 30+. I blame CD: unfortunately I cannot remember what it was he said now that put me off, but it was definitely his fault... Sparky and I managed to pull 20 pins back on the game to leave us in a position to easily steal a victory, so it seemed well worth the effort of leaving my cosy sofa, warm lounge and Desperate Housewives for.
Until peRV & CD picked up the baton, only to drop it in the mud, along with 19 of our skilfully gained pins. I need say no more, they knew they were up to their armpits in doggie-doodies. Craptain & Chuckle 1 tried, but were unable to do enough and we lost. I dunno by how many, and I can't remember many of the scores. I do know someone beat my 23 to earn themselves top score, and that Taffy also had a good game with 23. Unlike Minidisk.... it would be insensitive to say how few he got, but he was in good company with Barnesy. My only regret was that Georgie Boy left early and I was unable to commiserate with him, so here is a special message just for him, from me, with love.
RINSED!!
